Cadet Detachment
204 are located
in the heart of White City, London. The Cadet Detachment is located
in a TA centre that is shared by 10 company 4 Para and 83 Signals.
There is also an Air Cadet unit on site.
The unit parades
on a Monday and Wednesday evening between 1930 2130hrs. The unit
parades every week throughout the year apart from at Christmas and
New Year when we break for a few weeks. We're also closed on Bank
Holidays!
There are no initial costs to
join the detachment. The only costs are for weekends and annual
camp.
Weekend's can
vary in cost depending on the activities involved. Annual Camp,
which is two weeks is very reasonably priced and covers all the
activities that cadets take part in as well as 3 meals a day!
The detachment
has a Canteen that provides light refreshments such drinks and chocolate
bars.
There is no charge
for the uniform, which is normally issued to the cadet after he
has attended a minimum of 8 parade nights. The kit is issued on
loan and must be returned when a Cadet leaves the detachment.
There are only
one item of kit that you will have to purchase. This is a pair of
boots, these have to be the type that come above the ankle.
The Army Cadet
Force is a disciplined uniformed organisation and you will be expected
to comply with the unit standing orders, a copy of which can be
obtained from the OC.
There is no medical
entry into the Army Cadet Force, we cater for all abilities.
There is no problem
if you have a disability, you are welcome if we are able to accommodate
your needs. In any instance you should bring all medication with
you to all ACF activities and ensure that the adult staff are aware
of your condition.
The cadets follow
a well-established training programme, which covers the following
subjects:
- First Aid
- Map and Compass
- Fieldcraft (living in the great outdoor military style)
- Skill at Arms (The use of weapons under strict adult supervision)
Drill (Marching)
- Physical Training (Obstacle courses and circuit training.)
There are many
other military related subjects, and the cadet's progress through
those subjects in various levels of difficulty depending on their
length of service.
There is a rank
structure, which means that your son could be promoted up to the
rank of cadet RSM or even Under Officer.
The unit has access
to an indoor that we use to fire .22 rifles under qualified adult
supervision.
All of the staff
have been fully vetted by the Police through the CRB system, and
have been on numerous training courses prior to instructing cadets.
